Over the past few months some of the region’s biggest names in business have been stepping forwards ahead of the upcoming Birmingham Business Excellence Awards and announcing their involvement as sponsors.
Coventry Rugby Club is the latest to do just that and joins the likes of Birmingham City University, Kalamazoo IT, NFU Mutual and more as one of 15 category sponsors.
The rugby union club, whose home is at the Butts Park Arena, have recently completed their first season back in the RFU Championship after a nine-year absence from the division.
The team achieved a respectable eighth place finish and will no doubt be entering the next season with high hopes.
Toby Costar is the Head of Commercial Operations at Coventry Rugby Club and commented on their involvement with the awards.
“Coventry Rugby is a club for the whole of the West Midlands and as such the management is delighted to be partnering with Birmingham Business Excellence Awards,” he said.
“As a professional sports club we know the value of excellence in all areas of our organisation, from the players and coaches who achieve the wins on the pitch, to delivering outstanding experiences for our supporters and customers both on match days and throughout the week.”
The business awards, which take place on XX at the ICC undoubtedly provide an invaluable opportunity for praises to be sung for local businesses. But, they also represent something even more important – the comradery that sits at the heart of Birmingham’s business community.
Mr Costar stressed the importance of businesses coming together in this way to relish in one another’s achievements as well as their goals and ambitions.
“It is really important for local businesses to support community events such as this, as it entrenches the connections that make the whole area the special place that it is,” he added.
“The business community in Birmingham is reflective of the community of England's second largest city - diverse, progressive and dynamic
“These events give businesses the opportunity to celebrate the successes of their peers, to gain inspiration for their own ambitions, and to enjoy an excellent occasion
“Being shortlisted for an award is a massive achievement in itself and winning then becomes the icing on the cake.”
