Emily Burnett and Sophie Rohan from Chester make up the operatic duo Belle Voci who rose to fame in April 2018 when they made it to the final of ITV’s popular talent contest The Voice UK.
Now, the pair are getting ready to hit up the ICC in Birmingham, which each year hosts around 400 events, as they perform at one of the city’s most prominent business events.
The Birmingham Business Excellence Awards will get underway in spectacular fashion at the iconic Broad Street venue where the achievements of local businesses will be celebrated across 15 specially chosen categories. And Belle Voci will be on hand to bring a touch of star quality and no doubt raise goosebumps, as the evening’s headline entertainment.
The pair’s journey together started when they were 22 and working in the same pub. Sophie, who was then working as a waitress overheard Emily, a then chef at the pub, singing and suggested a duet. After honing their talent at local performances, they took a leap of faith entering The Voice UK.
Belle Voci turned heads – particularly judge Jennifer Hudson who went on to mentor the duo throughout the show – following their rendition of Leo Delibes’ Flower Duet.
Following a string of outstanding performances, including their take on Adele’s Skyfall in the semi-finals, they made it through to the final where they unfortunately missed out on the £100,000 prize and a record deal with Republic Records to teenager Ruti Olajugbagbe.
But the pair has taken it all in their stride and are enjoying a hugely successful career with sell out shows a regular on their busy schedules.
Most recently though a significant honour came for Sophie and Emily when they were invited to perform the National Anthem at Wembley Stadium for the FA Community Shield.
Those lucky enough to be attending the Birmingham Business Excellence Awards – including the event’s finalists and generous sponsors – can expect to be truly blown away by the duo’s vocals.
Their performance will come amidst the presentation of the awards and include 4 songs from their extensive catalogue.
